Dear Sir/Madam,I am trying to simulate a system conatnig prism to deflect the light. I made prism in sequatial mode by using coordinate break. But when I am trying to use another element after the prism, ray direction is changing (right to left), but it should be form left to right, why it is happing so, what changes do I need to make?I am attaching the screenshot of the problem as well as .zar file.This problem is not persisting when I am also going in negative direction (right to left (By chaning the tilt angle in coordinate break column)), but in that case all the sign convention is changing which is obvious.

Hello, I have lost my Zemax license… I have uninstalled zeemax  to reset my computer, I have mailed to one of the teams but for some reason the email has never arrived… (may be I misspelled the address? But I should have a warning in this case, no?) Can you help with this ?  Regards,Sanjay Kumar.

I have both a question and possibly a suggestion for a new feature.I have often wanted to design a lens with a specific design form.  It is quite easy to use OpticStudio to craft a plausible starting point for the design. Just set up the fields and aperture, open up a layout, and start adding components to the to the lens data editor so as to produce the form and guide the chief and marginal rays through in about the right way.The next step is to optimize the lens to get optimal values for radii and thicknesses, and perhaps to identify the best glasses by glass substitution. That’s where the problems start. I know the design form I want, but the optimization routines don’t respect my wishes. Hammer and Global Search, and even just a straight Optimize, will lunge about frantically. They often come up with a good design, just not what I’m looking for.With a lot of effort, the merit function can be crafted to constrain the design to respect my wishes. I am designing a three-mirror off-axis system with the pupil (stop) located on the second mirror. I would like to increase the diameter of the pupil to decrease the aperture. So I would like to cut the left edge (picture) of my second mirror without losing too much flux.I would like to know (if it is possible) the link between the aberrations (Seidel or Zernike coefficients) or the image spot in the image plane and the impact point of this ray on the pupil.The goal is to place a rectangular aperture at the pupil.I suppose that the extremal rays at the edge of the pupil have more consequences on the image spot than the rays in the axis?Finally, is it possible to cut the pupil in 4 to observe the effects of each illuminated area.Thanks in advance

I would like to simulate the reflected light from a ColorChecker tile (or even build an entire card) and use different illuminants in the system using the standard options for the Source Color (under Color/Spectrum) using different XYZ Tristimulus Values for different white points. I have  reflectance spectrum using a spectrophotometer which uses D65 illuminantHow you make a surface with a custom reflectance spectrum ? Do I need to make transform my spectrum for each different illuminant I want to try?Is this even something that can … should be done in Zemax? maybe that should be the first question 

Hello everyone,I am currently trying to create a 3D interferometry model using a detector volume. I first checked that I was able to detect the interferences in 2D, before using a detector volume, as in the tutorial: How to show Detector Volume data in 3-D – Knowledgebase (zemax.com).My system uses 3 source ellipse and a detector volume of opacity 10%.However, I cannot see any absorbed flux on my detector volume, but I don’t know why. I suspect that without detecting any absorbed flux the Macro given by the tutorial cannot be run properly. Can you help me with that?Best regards,Marie Fournier.

Hi All,I would like to model collection of light from a point source that has the emission pattern of a classical dipole (i.e. E~ exp(ikr)/r * (r^ x (r^ x p^)), where r^ is the radial unit vector, and p^ is the polarization state of the radiation), ultimately into a single mode fiber. I’m fairly new to Zemax, so apologies if my question isn’t phrased correctly. I understand (I think) how to evaluate fiber coupling efficiency in sequential mode using unpolarized light and uniform illumination from a point source. I can then set the input polarization state using the Jones vector parameters, but this does not yet account for the spatial dependence of the amplitude of the spherically expanding wave. Is there a way to model this emission pattern? Or perhaps there is a different approach you’d recommend. Thanks for the help! Best,David

  I made a stellar interferometer using NSC model, but the change of baseline didn't get different interference fringes ，which should not happen .   I couldn’t figure out why.

The ZERN merit function seems to only give the Zernike values of the Image surface, but the Zernike coefficients are reported in the Wavefront Analysis table for ANY surface. I want to be able to extract the Zernike values for a surface other than the Image surface which are clearly available. How do I do it and represent it in the Merit Function Editor. The ZERN fucntion doesn’t have a parameter which will specify the surface of interest. Would appreciate help if anyone has tried to do this. Adrian_J

Tried both ways to connect Matlab API. when using standalone connection, everything works but when switch to interactive extension, Matlab keeps complaining ‘license check failed’. anyone know how to solve it?

Hello,I’m trying to create a hybrid mode model for my Herriott Cell  (Multipass) to analyze aberrations in the outgoing beam. The initial ray goes into the cell, bounces back and forth, until it comes out of the initial mirror that it went through. In NSC mode, you would place a detector at the entrance to compare the initial and outgoing. However, in sequential mode, is there a way to place the image plane in the same plane as the stop plane to create an interferogram/aberration analysis? I’m unable to move the dummy surface between the image and non sequential component to to do this.I have attached an image of what I thus far - any guidance would be appreciated.Thanks!

In modeling a photoluminescent material in OpticStudio, when I raytrace with ONE Analysis Ray and ONE Layout Ray, the NSC 3D diagram looks like this:But when I raytrace with TEN Analysis Rays and ONE Layout Ray, the NSC 3D diagram looks like this:This seems to be presenting more than ONE Layout Ray despite the unchanged Entry of ONE (1) in the Source Object Property Box for Layout Rays.Can someone explain this?

I want to export to CAD, but Surface 2 failed to export.How to export to CAD?  

Consider a plano convex lens used to focus a collimated gaussian beam , if the beam diameter is almost the same as the lens diameter (45.7mm) we get a geometrical rms spot size of 51um  if the entrance gaussian beam diameter is reduced to 20mm, we get a rms spot size of 4um because of reduced spherical Aberration : but if the entrance collimated beam diameter is 150mm , which is 3 times larger than lens diameter we get : Zemax reports a focus spot size of 2.2mm . Clearly this is not correct.  How do we model the propagation of Gaussian beam limited by an aperture. How would the diffraction generated by the circular aperture affect spot size? would the effects be negligible or would the spot size degrade of a truncated beam? [Mod note: moved to more appropriate forum for OS-related discussions.]

Hello,I want to model a physical stop (meaning, an additional stop which is not one of the lens surfaces), and this stop should have thickness, as physical stops do. How do I model such an element, which has thickness and blocks the light? Clearly, specifying the thickness of the stop surface in the regular manner would just mean the distance to the next lens surface, which is not my intention. Also, in the case of a stop with thickness, which of its two surfaces is defined as the stop surface, or maybe some intermediate plane between them?I’d be happy to hear any insights you have about dealing with the stop physical thickness.Thank you.
