Hello, I want to optimize my system by calculating the optical path length between to surfaces in non-sequential mode, similar to what PLEN does in sequential mode. Is there a way to do this? My goal in this is that the beam travels an exact distance before it hits an off-axis mirror.  Thanks!

Hello, SOME of our users are currently having issues checking out network licenses because they simply don't show up in the ZeMax License Manager, however it does for some clients. All clients are configured 100% the same in the Sentinel License Manager, and I've attached screenshots of a client who can access the licenses (ava-cmurphy) and a client who can't (ava-dwebberd). Additionally, all clients are using the exact same firewall and have all the same Group Policies. I've spent hours troubleshooting this today and I'm out of ideas as it's working for some folks and not for others even though they're all configured the same. Here are some of the troubleshooting steps I've taken: Tried using various names/IPs for the server (FQDN, local IP, hostname) Confirmed all clients can ping server whether they can retrieve license or not Uninstalled and re-installed the License Manager on the server Compared configurations on server, broken client, a

I have a question about the correct way to simulate relative illumination in an imaging lens. The lens is designed to work with apertures between the lens elements which introduce some vignetting towards the edge of the field. The apertures are defined explicitly as 'Circular Apertures' at each surface in addition to a user defined 'Semi-Diameter' at the same value. The lens semi-diameters are defined in the same way using surface 'Circular Apertures' in addition to setting the same aperture semi-diameter as user-defined in the 'Semi-Diameter' column. Think of a kind of mobile phone lens -- the basic structure is similar as is the maximum field angle of about +/-37deg. The company that does manufacturing claims that for the proper calculation of RI it is necessary to set vignetting factors (and not to set 'Remove Vignetting Factors' in the relative illumination settings) and to use polarization. I am using non-sequential mode.  I want to do surface treatment of various shapes. I will attach an image. 1. Can only one surface be set for diffuse reflection? 2. Is it possible to treat only the center part of the surface as a diffuse reflection surface as shown in Figure (4)?

Hello, I want to tilt the last part of my system, but I want to tilt the image plane with it. For example, I hav 3 lenses and want to tilt the last two, with the image plane having the same tilt as the last two elements (see image). Is this possible? (I am working in sequential mode.) Or is there another way to solve the problem I have? L1 is a collimator, sending collimated light to L2 and L3, and I want to see the effect of sending collimated light to L2 & L3 under different angles. I have done it already using different fields, leaving L1 out and using obj distance infinity, but I want to know if there is a way if I can do it with L1 in the setup.

The laser specs are, - wavelength: 532 nm - 2theta: 0.7 mrad (FW)(1/e^2) - 2w0: 1 mm (FW)(1/e^2)&nbsp; - w0 position: laser head output position&nbsp; - M2 < 1.1&nbsp; In this situation, the beam waist cannot be a point source. Hello, I have a rectanular field type and need to determine focus position of each field on the microdisplay. For example, if I take microdisplay wth 15,5mm*8,7mm so the field [19;7] need to be focused in position of the microdisplay wih coordinates [7,75mm; 4,35mm].&nbsp; What operand should I use to determine position of the field focus on the microdisplay (for each field)? Hi I am trying to work out the irradiance at different distances from a given light source. I was supplied with actual values from empirical testing, and I thought OpticStudio would corroborate that. However, I found that I got very different answers. I have since found out that the results that the Ray Trace gives (peak irradiance for each detector) can give greatly different results depending on the # X Pixels and # Y Pixels that I set for the detectors, and also for the number of analysis rays for the source. All I want is an accurate value for the peak irradiance at certain distances from a source. Is there an easy way of setting this up? Thanks in advance Jo Ling

Hello, I ould be really thankful for clarification how to achieve a paraxial Magnification. So I have system of two paraxial lenses with focuses 100 and 200. And I need to determince distance beween lenses and distances from lenses to the object and image. The magnification is M=-1.1x and total length of the system is 800mm. So what I did. I definedthe obeject height 1mm in Fields and in merit function determined operand REAY with Py=1 and target=-1.1 to receive Magnification -1.1. But afer the optimization Paraxial Magnification less or higher&nbsp;than desired -1.1x. So how is it possible to achieve the exact magnification M=-1.1x? Thank you in advance! &nbsp;

I am wondering how to set the QE (or coating) of the detector in the stray light analysis. In the real world, the efficiency of the detector/ (QE) is not 100%, which means part of the lights will be reflected by the surface of the detector. For this reason, I need to set the coating of the detector with like 80%. Could you provide some suggestions on how to do that properly? (Currently, what I do is insert a thin film just in front of the detector with 80% transmission. I am not sure if this is the right way I should do it.)

Hello, My license # is L115250.&nbsp; I installed Zemax 21.1.1 to my new windows laptop.&nbsp; Then I transferred this license from my old laptop to this new one.&nbsp; So I typed in the transfer code.&nbsp; But I got the error message: The key service does not work correctly.&nbsp; please restart your machine and try agian.&nbsp; If it is not resolved, please contact with Zemax service. &nbsp; So I restarted my laptop, but I got the same error message.&nbsp; I think the key may be for an older Zemax version and I did not update the license file.&nbsp; But the installation on the my new laptop is the most updated Zemax version.&nbsp; Could that be the root cause?
