Hi I want to export the lens design I drew on Zemax to Solidworks. I've never had a problem with my version in 2019 before. But now, when I save it as stl or step file(in fact, it creates a file type in the form of '.stl.log' and then I delete the' log ' part.) using the CAD Files tool and open it through solidworks, nothing appears.

Hello, I am using OpticStudio21.2.1 and its NSV Shaded model viewer takes enormous time (~20min) to finish update. Showing objects are 6 rectangular detectors, 9 source points, 45 layout rays.Once the updated is settled, I rock the update but the initial update (or every time I changed object coordinates) it goes to update and takes ~20min to finish the update and it is a pain.Anybody knows what is going on and how to solve this? RegardsKazu 

Dear all. I would like to simulate bent fiber bundle beam divergence which include almost 8,000 single mode fiber. but I am wondering if it is reasonable to model a bundle of fibers by inputting 8,000 single fibers. Also, for analysis, after dividing the fiber front modeling(objective lens part) and the fiber rear modeling(condensing lens part), is there any problem if the wavelength distribution incident on the fiber front part is applied to the source of the fiber rear modeling? Thank you  

Hi Everyone!My name is Jordan Teich and I am working from Boston as an Optical Engineer on the Zemax Customer Success team.  I only just joined the team in early 2021, but I’ve had a great experience here so far! Before joining Zemax, I received my B.S. in Optical Engineering at the University of Rochester.  After graduating, I worked as an Optical Test Engineer in the aerospace industry for ~4.5 years.  It was a fast-paced environment where I was able to run optical tests for a number of interesting space payloads and sub-assemblies! Hello,I am currently trying to implement 3D-Printed optical lenses (plastic) into my system in sequential mode.However, I am experiencing issues when it comes to insert a new material. I know that to really implement a new material the wavelength dependend dispersion formula is needed. However, I only have a constant refractive index given.Could someone tell me if there is the possibility to implement a material without any thermal or wavelength dependencies? Thank you very much in advance!

Hi, I am a student trying to improve light uniformity for a hydroponic system. Which layout would be optimal, square, rectangle etc. Also, how do I determine the distance between each LED. Are there are any optical structures (i.e  Fresnel Lens/Collimator) there are simplified so I can make to improve light uniformity?Thanks, appreciate your help.

Greetings, I am creating a horicultural fixture. Which data do I collect to convert it into PPFD. For instance, do I collect the luminous intensity or incoherent illumination. Also, is there a simple mathematical factor that relate the data I mentioned to PPFD so that conversion can be done quickly?Thanks!

I need an annular source with collimated output. In other words, it would be like a ‘source ellipse’ using the source distance. Except, all the rays coming from the annulus would be collimated at a single angle, either converging or diverging. Any ideas on how to accomplish this? Thanks

Probably 1.5 years ago I submitted a bug report for Zemax to fix a bug where the filename would be cutoff at the first dot/period in the filename. For example, saving a plot as 'def=1.35_xxx.png' will only save a file as 'def=1.png' Come on, it's not that hard to fix!

Can I model and optimise a sequential cylindrical surface somehow? Or is it just a non-sequential option as they are obviously not rotationally symmetric.

I creat Michelson interferometer by using non-sequential mode, there is no fringes in the detector(the yellow one), the fringe exsit in reference mirror plane(the right side last plane), I do not know what is wrong?

Dear sir/madam,I opened a zemax file, while opneing it is showing a error that “ Coating THOR os not defined in Coating file”. But the same file i opened in the morning it was working properly.  Now this time Coating Error is coming, I tried to retify it but couldn’t. Dear Madam, Sir, we use OpticStudio with License in a black USB key. I have just downloaded and updated the newest release. But I am asked for the code several times in a row and Opticstudio will not open. I assume that our current license code and the key don’t match the Opticstudio release. I would like therefore if it is possible to require a new License code which match this release. Unless I will reinstall the old version that we use. Could you please tell us with which version we can return back? We need to use OpticStudio urgently, please help us to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. Best regards,   

Clients open up Zemax, I open of the gemelto website and the product are not there. I configure the clients to point to the license server but the client is still displaying. How do I get the client to switch to the license server via the website.
