Hi, This morning I started facing an error in my license manager. The license server is a different computer and Optic Studio runs fine on the server machine, but on the laptop, from which the image below was taken, I cannot seem to run OpticStudio because the license seem to have expired. I have never had trouble with not checking in the license back in time. I could simply check in and check it out again. But today seems to be an exception. I am not even sure the problem is becaue of not checking the license back in! Any solutions are most welcome.   Best regards, Amit  

The license in question has been temporarily transferred from a desktop computer to a laptop by its user. It’s been done many times in the past with no issues. Unfortunately it didn’t work this time around – although license is shown as activated, the error message states that no license is available

I am an educator. I have a ZEMAX optic studio academic licence. I reinstalled my pc and when I try to install the software again, I get a license error. My license is used and I can't activate it again. Transfer code had to be created for the license, but I didn't know that. What do I have to do now? How can ı create a transfer code for my licence? Hello, My license # is L115250.  I installed Zemax 21.1.1 to my new windows laptop.  Then I transferred this license from my old laptop to this new one.  So I typed in the transfer code.  But I got the error message: The key service does not work correctly.  please restart your machine and try agian.  If it is not resolved, please contact with Zemax service.   So I restarted my laptop, but I got the same error message.  I think the key may be for an older Zemax version and I did not update the license file.  But the installation on the my new laptop is the most updated Zemax version.  Could that be the root cause? Dear Zemax community  I have a problem transfering my student licence . It's activated on my old laptop and it's broken now so I can't activated on my new laptop with the first activation Key .  Do you know how can I get a new activation key to my licence ? how to solve this problem .  Adam

I am setting up a new computer and I need to transfer my license from my older computer to the new computer. When I open the Zemax License Manager on my old computer I see my license, but on the 'Send License' tab the 'transfer' button is grayed out. How do I go about transfering the license to my new computer?

Hello OpticStudio colleagues, My name is Vadim and i'm using OpticStudio 21.1 and 16.5 on different machines. Following problem happens with 16.5 that I tried but cannot find a solution. For some reason, OpticStudio 16.5 stopped launching - first screen is being opened, license is checked and the app is shut down. After hours of checking, I found out that suddenly there's some compatibility problem with Microsoft Net Framework (Windows 10). In particular - clr.dll and mscorlib.ni.dll files. What I've tried to do is: 1. Re-booting PC 2. Re-installing OS 16.5 3. Uninstalling any Windows 10 updates related to Net Framework 4. Repairing Net Framework (doesn't help) 5. Uninstalling and installing Net Framework (seems - not possible in Windows 10) Maybe something else I am forgetting. Has anyone experienced this issue before? One of my colleague is based in Singapore and he activated the license first and did not face this issue. I was trying to activate it on my end today (Pittsburgh, PA) but was unable to do so. Is anyone else having a very slow opticstudio install. It's been 'extracting files' for over an hour now from the install file on the local C drive. It seems we now have to put up with a slow installation alongside the slow and buggy UI!

OpticsStudio 21.1 setup freezes at 'updating prerequisites'. My system is Windows 10, and I've tried reinstall and reboot but problem still exists. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I am not able to start Zemax: When Double click the 'Optics Studio.exe' to run, nothing happens, not even any error message!! License looks ok If you had similar issue bedore and worked out a solution, would really appreciate it if you could kinldy share. Thanks a lot

Can anyone tell me what the C:/ProgramData/Zemax folder is used for?  It seems to have duplicates of all the folders in the Users Documents Zemax folder.  It is not a left over from an old install because to get rid of all the clutter from 7 years of updates I have just resorted to a clean install and I deleted it as it was left behind after uninstalling Zemax.  After a clean install it has appeared again! Also apparently every time you do an update Zemax has to copy data over to it but it seems to just be clutter taking up hard disk space.  That is not the only needless duplication, there are three locations you could put a DLL, there is a DLL folder in the aforementioned ProgramData/Zemax folder, there is another in Program Files/Zemax OpticStudio and yet another in the Users/Documents/Zemax folder.  Why does Zemax need to have three of them?  It is confusing to say the least and needless duplication is just plane bad programming! I have a Zemax student license.     [ Product: Premium Subscription SUL 1 YR      License Expiration: Wednesday, November 3, 2021 ] I had formatted my Laptop(HP2000, Windows 8.1, year 2013) two weeks back as it was hanging frequently. Unfortunately, afterwards the formatting I am not able to reactivate the Zemax account in my Laptop with the License activation code I possess. When I tried to 'Open a Case', I found it denying me the access. Please help me to solve this problem.

If I re-input the license I got from you by e-mail, it told me that the license have already been registered. My computer is just normal as usual. Would you please tell me how to fix this problem? Hello, I tried to do a ray trace in non-sequential mode and got the following error message: I'm just a bit confused here, because in 'System Explorer' under 'Non-Sequential' I can set 'Maximum Segments Per Ray:' to 2 000 000, but for my ZRD format I can only have less than 65536 segemnts per ray. Why do I have this limit, can I bypass it and why can I set 'Maximum Segments Per Ray:' to more than my ZRD format allows? With kind regards Christian

I have send my subscription license from one laptop to other by using an email that is not the one I have in my.zemax, and now I can not receive the license in the second laptop because the Zemax License Manager pops up an error saying 'You are not authorized to use this key'. Dear Zemax Team, Could you please help me in troubleshooting with installing Zemax Optic Studio. As I can understand, the problem is I cannot activate the license code because I cannot install HASP drivers. In Zemax License manager I can see the following  and after 'check HASP driver' I can see next error message . I tried to use Zemax License Repair Kit, as it described in https://my.zemax.com/en-US/Knowledge-Base/kb-article/?ka=KA-01614 ,  but when I tried to use install.bat I see following warning During all these actions we disabled antivirus software and brandmauer windows. I am trying to interface optics builder with Solidworks. I have installed both but when I try to add the optics builder add-in to solidworks, I am getting the message 'Unable to run optics builder'. When I run the zemax troubleshooter i get the following output (see image). How should I proceed?

I recently upgraded from 20.2.1 to 20.2.2.  When I restarted OpticStudio, the license manager wants me to enter my license number and activation code, as if this is a new installation.  I was able to log in to zemax.com and retrieve my license number, but why an activation code and where do I get it? Network problems occured as soon as Zemax OpticStudio 20.2.1 Premium was launched, reflected in not being able to access the internet or the default gateway (timeout). And within 1 minute after exiting OpticStudio, network was recovered and everything turned normal. Had tried for 5 times, and things above were reproduced 100%. Please solve the strange problem as soon as possible. Thank you!
