Invalid ZRD format

Hello,

I tried to do a ray trace in non-sequential mode and got the following error message:

I'm just a bit confused here, because in 'System Explorer' under 'Non-Sequential' I can set 'Maximum Segments Per Ray:' to 2 000 000, but for my ZRD format I can only have less than 65536 segemnts per ray.

Why do I have this limit, can I bypass it and why can I set 'Maximum Segments Per Ray:' to more than my ZRD format allows?

With kind regards

Christian

Hi Christian,

There is a limitation on the number of segments when you choose one of the 'compressed' ZRD options. This is discussed in the Help System file The Setup Tab > Editors Group (Setup Tab) > Non-sequential Component Editor > Non-sequential Overview > Ray Database (ZRD) Files:

If you want to continue your analysis without changing the Maximum Segments Per Ray in the System Explorer, then you will need to switch to the Uncompressed Full Data version of the ZRD!

Let me know if you have any other questions about this!

Best,

Allie
