float to integer

Hi, Is there a way to change variable from float to integer?I want to use it to write list of polygons in loop:for i:n:polygon_name 1.pobpolygon_name 2.pobpolygon_name 3.pob….In other words, i dont want something like that: Thanks,Nadav…..

ZPL Improvements

The program in the following file assigns random values ​​to the specified Zernike terms. This ZPL works in non-sequential mode but not in sequential mode.Where do I need to modify it to make it work in sequential mode?Lens data is attached in another file.

STDD() Typo in the help (references SRPO() instead of SPRO())

There is minor typo in the current help file for Zemax OpticStudio. I caught it in the PDF for 2024 R1; however, it is present in the online help file from Ansys as well discussing Numeric Functions.In the description of the obselete STDD() tag for ZPL programming, it references SRPO which does not exist. It meant to reference SPRO.Confirmation that SPRO is correct can be found in @Katsumoto Ikeda’s post here.

Fellow ZPL programmers,I want to share some of the tools that I use for editing ZPL scripts and code.I use Microsoft Visual Code Studio to edit the ZPL files.I also use an extension from Hiiragi that enables support for ZPL in VS Code. It provides syntax highlighting and some code completion through IntelliSense.For IntelliSense, I would disable the option “Editor>Suggest: Match On Word Start Only”. If I have a 2D array e.g. 10x2  A(x,y), what’s the syntax to extract one column (or row) in that array so that it’s a 1D array?I’ve tried:col = A(1:10,3)col = A(:,3)

Z Scan Simulation

Hi, I am trying to simulate the Z-Scan experiment with Zemax, but I need a macro program. I am sharing the experimental setup. It will move the piece used as a sample from 400mm to 600mm, and in the meantime, I need to reach the normalized transmittance value from the detectors. Save macro files

Dear all, I have a macro code and works fine but couldn’t save the text files. Filter String in Macro

I am rather new in the field of creating Macro. I am trying in a Macro to introduce a Ray tracing. I need to select the ray that I want to display. This function is done with Filter String is the normal use of Zemax. I could i use a filter string in the macro. Is there something special to carry.

IMAE runs slow

I’m changing four different parameters to find the highest efficency in an optical system.For this I have build a four layer loop that runs the comand IMAE and do some calculations using the returned value and the pramaters. Hovever zemax doesn’t seem to use the full processor capacity only about 7%.If I instead use the comand IMA to run the geometric image analyze  the processor runs at full speed and the command runs more than 10x faster. Hovever I cant find any way to read out the data “Total flux”

ZLPM file location

Hi,How do I know where my macro files are stored? are they in the general Zemax/macro directory or in the local project? After assuming its local, when reopening the file (after closing Zemax) it went to the general one instead. Is there a way to control this? Thanks

Creating CAD objects from “Voxel Maker.ZPL” macro

Hello everyone, I tried to use the “Voxel Maker.ZPL” macro provided in the following article: How to show Detector Volume data in 3-D, but even though no errors appear, it doesn’t create any imported CAD. Is there any new version I can use?Thank you!

Export detector data as text of a CAD Part as detector

I have defined a CAD part as a detector in NSC. In the text tab of the detector viewer I am able to see the Irradiance and the position (XYZ) of each pixel. I want to export this text file with a macro in ZPL. When I do this, I get a .txt-file but always with ‘Detector Viewer Summary’ and not with ‘Detector Viewer Listing’ data inside. I have tried to select the correct detector with ‘MODIFYSETTINGS’, ‘DVW_DETECTOR’ but it looks like, I cannot select the correct object. How can I export the correct text file with ZPL?

ZPL Edit/Run UI status does not show actual ZPL code line number

I was just testing a macro when I noticed something strange. The number shown in the Edit/Run UI does not match the actual line number in the ZPL macro editor. I grabbed this image while the UPDATE ALL line was running, but the Status indicates line 5 is currently running. Line 5 is just a comment. It appears the lines with “!” are being ignored by the status indicator. For reference, I am using Zemax OpticStudio 23.2.1

ZRD2MAT Multi-Threading Failure Error

I am running a macro that sweeps through different source ray angles, traces the system, and then saves the .ZRD file to a matlab .MAT file. There are only 4 rays being traced and the system is somewhat simple, so the ray trace time is quick. However, I have started to see this error regarding multi-threading. Since I have many .ZRD files I would like to convert, is there a way to turn off multi-threading in a command so I don’t have to click through the error message for every .ZRD file? Numeric Function SURC(A$) in NSC

It appears that SURC(A$) only works for sequential files.  Is there an equivalent function that will work with Non-Sequential files?

How to SETSURFACEPROPERTY using a variable?

I have defined an array variable with various surface parameters called L1(i,j)for example:L1(1,1) is the value of a curvatureL1(1,2) is the value of a thickness I would like to use the numeric values of this array variable in a .ZPL so for instance I could say: SETSURFACEPROPERTY  12, 2, L1(1,1)but I see that I cannot use a variable that is a number for the value of the curvature., has to be converted to a STRING  Why the heck not, the curvature is not a string but IS a number?  Just another backward ancient programming ZEMAX thing. Anyway, I guess that the value of the lens parameter to set has to be a STRING, a number, or a numerical expression, not a variable?  So how do I convert L1(1,1) to a STRING to set the curvature parameter in the lens which is actually not a string but a number?  Retarded. I thank anyone for the time taken to help.  I tried to use the $STR(val) and FORMAT but loe and behold can’t get that to work.Like $STR(L1(1,1)) gets rewarded an error message.……………………………

Solutions to hide details of a ZPL macro

Dear Zemax community,I currently have a ZPL macro that has two inputs taken from the MCE and computes the radius of curvature of a surface, based on these two values. What is useful is that I can set my two inputs as variables and run some optimization so i’m quiet happy about it.Now I would like to hide the equation so that my zemax file performs the same but no one can access the details of the computation within my ZPL macro. I understand there is no way to encapsulate a ZPL macro or create a black box around it. What other options do I have that would work in the same fashion as this ZPL macro?Thanks
