Hi,
How do I know where my macro files are stored? are they in the general Zemax/macro directory or in the local project? After assuming its local, when reopening the file (after closing Zemax) it went to the general one instead.
Is there a way to control this?

Generally, OpticStudio pulls the macros from the folder specified in Setup..OpticStudio Preferences..Folders..ZPL. By default, it should be your user folder ../Documents/Zemax/MACROS. However, if you have a macro in use within a Lens Project, such as a ZPL Solve. Then, it will also be embedded with the project. By default, it should still use the version located in the OpticStudio Preferences, but you can change and verify this by clicking File..Lens Project Settings. In the example below, the dummy.ZPL macro is pulled from the Root, understand the OpticStudio Preference folder. However, you could toggle to the use the macro in the Project folder under ../Your_Project/MACROS. Notice the red exclamation mark indicates that the two macros are different! You’d have a different icon if they were the same (see the second screenshot).
