What is the universal plot used for?

The Universal Plot can be used for whatever you need it to! For both the 1D and the 2D versions, the settings menu allows you to choose what you plot on the x and the y-axes, allowing you to see any optimization operand as a function of another parameter.

One example of a way to use this plot is to if you are trying to increase the field of view of your system. You can plot the merit function against the field of view to see how quickly the system performance would degrade if you were to increase the field.

This is a verstile tool that is adaptable to many situations, and can be used to customize OpticStudio to work for your particular application.
