I would like to either color rays by filter string or overlay one layout onto another to produce an image like the one below created in powerpoint. Is there a way to do this?

Thank you,

John

To overlay 3D layouts, there is a hidden option. You can overlay two 3D layouts in the Classic View, which is not using our latest graphic libraries. The Classic View can be enabled under Setup > Project Preferences > Graphics:

Then each of your analysis windows will have a second tab named Classic.

On the 3D layout, you will find the Overlay option here:

Hi John,

Although currently there is no direct way to color rays based on filter strings, there is a workaround that you can use. When running a ray trace, you can save the filtered ray data as an SDF source file.

You can add this as a new Source File object that contains only the filtered rays. You can do this with different filter strings, and add the results as separate sources. Then you can choose the the Color Rays By Source # option.

You may read more about how to create a source file object in the following knowledge base article:

I hope this helps!
