Hi there,

I have a VCSEL laser diode with divergence angles of 8 and 24 degrees. I need to collimate the beam. In sequential mode, I set the field according to the angles and used a THORLABS aspheric lens suitable for the laser diode. However, I am unable to achieve collimation for both the 8 and 24-degree angles simultaneously. In theory, the aspheric lens should collimate the beam. How should I simulate this?

@sewrasna

Which THORLABS lens did you use (model number)? In addition to the divergence, do you have any information about the spatial light distribution at the VCSEL output? When you say you are unable to achieve collimation, what do you mean quantitatively?

Take care,

David
