Simulating laser light scattering from surrounding air

Hey fellas,

I edited the post in the hopes it'll get some replies.

The title pretty much sums it up. I want to simulate a laser, which goes through some gas e.g. air, and I want to see how the scattered light interacts with a nearby lens. I'd like to be able to estimate the scattered powerd given the power of the incoming laser.

Can this be done in Zemax? Up to this point I figured I should use NSC mode for the bulk scattering, and combine this with SC mode for the rest. I also figured I should probably use Rayleigh model rather than Mie.

I'm a newbie so I'd love to get any advice you have for me.

cheers,

Reuven
