Hi all,

is it possible to define, for a diffusive material, haze and half power angle values directly in the catalog entries?

Thanks

Hi Luca,

No, it’s not.  The 3 main values that are defined in the Materials Catalog are:

  • Dispersion coefficients to calculate the homogeneous refractive index
  • Thermal coefficients to calculate the change of refractive index as a function of temperature
  • Internal transmission to account for bulk absorption during a polarization ray trace

There are other single values like TCE and density as well, but these are static values and are not part of a subsequent calculation.

So the other thing you can define in the material catalog is an approximate transmission value for the diffuse material, but not the actual haze or half power angle.

If you need to define these, then most likely you will need to use non-sequential mode and either use a built in surface scatter/ bulk scatter model or create your own BulkScatter/SurfaceScatter with a DLL.
