Hello,

I am trying to use a source as a black body source and keep getting this error message.

I am trying to use object 23 as the blackbody source. Here is what the object properties are:

I have never dealt with the black body spectrum part of object properties before. I am assuming that the spectrum from the black body in the source settings is larger than some glass material in my catalog? I tried adding a custom catalog but I am unsure exactly what to look for since the catalog does not have a glass material in it. The two materials I use in my model are sapphire and silicon. Here is the materials catalog screenshot for each material.

Sapphire:

Silicon:

All help is appreciated thank you!

Your source is defined from 0.38 to 7.5 microns, but this is outside the range of both Silicon and Sapphire. Zemax is using the word “glass” in the error message to mean all materials. Do you need this entire range for your source? You can either change the source wavelength range, or make a custom material catalog. I would suggest just modifying your source definition to fit the material transmission as the easiest and most realistic approach.

Making a custom material catalog:
From the Materials Catalog window, select the Infrared catalog (or whatever one you are using with redacted name) then click on “Save Catalog As” This will let you save the entire glass catalog as a custom catalog. Now in your custom catalog you will have the freedom to change the Minimum and Maximum Wavelength fields at the lower right for each material.

I hope this helps!
