Dear Community,

Can anybody help me by explaining the RENA operand.

I am not able understand the “ X- direction surface normal ”. It would be very kind if someone could illustrate it. What is the output of this operand. Is it slope or angle in degrees/ radian.

Hi Jacob,

The normal vectors, along with all other vectors in OpticStudio, are unit-vectors (and thus unitless).  So the output of the operand is simply the x-component of the 3D normal vector.  This family of operands, along with REA/ABC, to determine the Angle of Exitance from a surface for a specific Hx/Hy/Px/Py ray.
