How to calculate the slope of the surface of any element in angle with respect to the image plane? I am using an aspheric surface for lens design and I need to constrain lens shape for some angle due to manufacturability issues. I noticed that Zemax has DSLP operand but it is giving in lens units and information is not enough to understand how it works. Can you please tell me any special operand for this?

Did this topic help you find an answer to your question?

Hello Sravan,

Thanks for the post Sravan,

We don't have any operands which can calculate directly the Slope of the surface in angles with respect of image plane. DSLP will calculate the slope in Lens unit as you suggested.

you can do the calculations using the math operands :  The Optimize Tab (sequential ui mode) > Automatic Optimization Group > Merit Function Editor (automatic optimization group) > Optimization Operands by Category > General Math Operands
