Eye-Safety Paramters

Hello,

I want to calculate for a scanning pulsed laser parameters like peak power, power of a single pulse and average power for eye-safety purposes.

Is there a way of calculate these parameters for a particular setup using Zemax or does Zemax has sime kind of features for eye-safety calculations?

Thank you,

Narciso

Hi Narciso,

You've asked a good question. Generally, OpticStudio does not do much regarding time dependent calculations. But if your pulse is just a time-varying intensity profile, you ought to be able to use a ZPL macro or an API to do the calculations you need just by looping through the time steps, changing intensities, and then calculating averages, sums, etc as you need. I don't know of any current tools that exist for this sort of calculation, but if we come across any, I'll get them into this forum thread.

Best regards,

Hi Narciso,

I was able to locate a Matlab based API that does a little bit of pulse analysis. Feel free to use it if it helps. I'm attaching a Zip file here.

Best regards,
