Released: July 27th, 2021

OpticStudio 21.2.2 contains the following fixes and enhancements.

Performance & Stability

  • ZOS-API – OpenRayDatabaseReader() tool can now be used for Mixed Mode systems (these are systems with Non-Sequential Component Surfaces in Sequential Mode). Previously this tool could only be used in pure Non-Sequential Mode.
  • Grid Sag Surface – Updated the Grid Sag Surface so that it now independently calculates the X and the Y curvature rather than using a rotational average.

Bugs

  • ZOS-API – Tolerance Data Viewer in ZOS-API now shows the Change with the same view option as for the Sensitivity Data Summary. Previously the Linear Difference was always displayed even if RSS Difference was selected.
  • ZPL – SOLVETYPE keyword now correctly changes the glass catalog when using the GS code.
  • Chebyshev Polynomial – Raytracing improved when either the X or Y Max Order equals 1 and the corresponding first-order coefficient is non-zero. Previously this situation could cause incorrect local surface normal calculations.
  • Tilt/Decenter Element Tool – Non-zero thickness of final surface is now correctly accounted for when using a non-zero pivot point in X, Y, or Z. Previously this thickness could be lost. This fixes the Known Issue reported in the OpticStudio 21.2.1 Release Notes.
  • Design Templates – A bug has been fixed that could cause OpticStudio to crash when opening the Design Templates tool.
  • System Diagnostic Tool – A bug has been fixed that could prevent the System Diagnostic tool from opening.
  • Lens Data Constraint Operands – DCRV, DPHS, DSAG, DSLP merit function operands now only report values inside of the aperture defined by the Lens Data Editor. Previously these operands could calculate values outside of the automatically generated clear aperture.
  • Optically Fabricated Hologram – The direction of diffraction is corrected for some situations when using Shape 3 of the Optically Fabricated Hologram. Previously the diffraction direction could have the wrong sign.
