I am testplating a zoom lens. As part of the process after optimization, I would “Fix” both infinite radius surfaces, as well as the base radius of any a spheres. In this case the error function is about ~ERF=0.4966.
However, when starting the testplating operation, note that the dialogue box recognizes the prior error function of ~ 0.496, but then estimates an ERF of ~9 Billion, and then Zemax stalls completely
The merit function going to 9E9 is an indication of an error condition, but I don’t know what the error is. Neither of the attachments seems useful to me, could you post the file? -Mark
