I am trying to define a Phase Retarding Mirror in NS mode that transform diagonal polarized light into circular polarized light. 

We managed to create a working model using Arp Ars on the coating definition, but if I rotate the mirror on the Z axis, there is no change on the outgoing polarization state. 

Is there a more accurate way to define the retardance of the mirror?

Could you use a Jones Matrix object?

That seems to be in fact the best alternative.

I would have liked to use a more physical description, but the Jones Matrix will do.

I don’t know what you are trying to achieve, but this might be relevant as well (although the article is for sequential mode):

The non-sequential mode can also handle birefringence through Object Properties..Index..Birefringent as discussed here:

The design we want to implement is for a phase retarding mirror. Therefore a birefringent plate is not applicable.

Unless I place it top of the mirror and make it double pass.
