We want to simulate the light beam hitting the photodiode on the IMAGE surface and use a Universal plot to plot the variation of the  luminous flux.

We tried to use POP as the operand, but it is a analyze for coupling light not suitable for us.

What's the Operand that IMAGE Surface can detect the beam power. Just like detector in the non-Sequential mode.

It's our simulation drawing as below.

Hi Vincent,

The Geometric Image Analysis can allow you to view the quality of your beam at the image surface. The corresponding merit function operand that can be used in the Universal Plot is IMAE.

I think you may find useful this Knowledge Base article which demonstrates its use:

Hi Berta,

Thank you for your reply!

It's very helpful for me.

The Geometric Image Analysis is calculated using geometry. We want to know if there is a way to calculate with Physical optics?

Hi Vincent,

I'm glad I could help! Yes, you can display the beam irradiance on a surface with Physical Optics Propagation:

But before using this tool, I'd recommend you to read the POP information in the OpticStudio Help Files:

The Analyze Tab (sequential ui mode) > Laser and Fibers Group > About Physical Optics Propagation

There is also a learning path that explains how to model laser beam propagation:
