I am trying to design a 5x Continuous zoom system from scratch. I have tried making paraxial optics with 5x magnification with 4 paraxial lens groups but I am not getting the results (I got focal length of each group from paraxial optics then I tried to design each group separately).
You need some advanced help here. Buy or borrow books by Warren Smith, Kingslake, Robert Fischer, Daniel Malacara and others that explain zoom design and actuation. They were very helpful to me in design of several successful zooms. Search zoom lens patents; they will often have good starting points that can be tailored to your needs.
