collimation light from the laser source

Hi,

I would like to run modulation ( which then I will apply to the real components) of the laser beam collimation. I need to pick up the appropriate lenses in order to get a collimated laser beam of 1.2 mm. I thought if I run the simulation first in the Zemax then it should be easier with the practical part. My laser beam parameters are

I was hoping to create a telescope in SC mode. However, how to define the laser light source. Normally, I would use NA, but I read that this is lens parameters not laser. I don’t see a beam divergence angle in the laser info too.  Does anyone could advise me on how to approach this seems to look like an easy simulation.

Thank you,

Regards,

Thank you, Sandrine,

Could I use half of the divergent angle as an  Object Space NA in Aperture type (SC)?

Hi @Marzanna

I would check the definition of the beam diameter here, but if it is 2 times the waist (it is a radius in Zemax), then you can simply calculate the divergence with:

Please note that the divergence angle as indicated by Sandrine is already a half cone angle (see, e.g., Gaussian beam - Wikipedia). The NA (= sin(alpha)) also uses a half cone angle.
