In a NSC System I have placed a Hologram Surface inside a rectangular volume with an index of 1.5.n1, n2 and n are set to 1.5. XYZ Coordinates are set to incomming and outcomming beam is 30° to get a reflective grating.Sending a beam under matching angele so that it hits the hlogram surface at 30° leads to the expected reflected beam inside the medium.Switching Split Rays on gives a reflected and a transmitted zero Order beam as expected. All fine so far! Changing the XYZ Coordinates for the outcomming beam to a value beyond TIR (for example 50°) without splitting everything stays as expected the beam is deflected under 50° and than total reflected at the rectangular volume surface.Switching Split Rays now on gives a “geometry error”Using Hologram Lens with fitting material instead leads to the same problem. Is there a way to use ray splitting with Holograms using large angles inside refractive media? BestSteffen
I usually use Binary1 Surface to model DOEs (Kinoforms) in sequential mode. The Binary Surface can be shaped rotational symmetric (Sphere or Asphere) but this kind of Elements are usually produced on a Foil that only allows bending it in one dimension (Cylindrical). The (extended) toroidal grating surfaces allow this shape, but are only supporting linear gratings.Have I overseen a surface type?Is there a possibility to bend a Binary1 into a cylinder?BestSteffen
System Diagnostic is just not starting. After clicking it nothing is happening.... a short wirl on the cursor, but no window pops up. Known issue???
We have some asymmetric scatterers in the lab that I would like to model in zemax. They have different gaussian scattering properties in horizontal and vertical direction. So i tried to use the Gaussian XY DLL to model it, but it behaves weired. A ray hitting the surface perpendicular is scattered as intended, but rays under even small angles are changing it completely. The scatter pattern for a ray with 1° in x-direction is twisted 90° to a ray under 1° in y-direction. Is there a mistake or do I something wrong? I have attached an example file. Best Steffen
A Holographic Lens in nonsequential mode should behave the same as Hologram1 and 2 in sequential mode. I used the same parameters to collimate a pointsource under an angle. But while the sequential system is working as suggested, the non sequential is not... I have attached two files to show. Can not find a mistake... a bug??? Best Regards Steffen
After optimization 3D Layout is only showing a blank screen and 'Maximum zoom reached'. Shaded model is able to show the system as expected with the same settings. its an infinite to infinite imaging but off coures the surfaces to show are limited to the finite region.
I am using a sequential Zemax file with 22 configurations and therefore a huge Merit function. I am using a Workstation with a 20core (physical, 40core virtual) CPU which is used at 1-3% Only a few percent of the 160GB RAM are used. Every action in the UI is mindbogglingly slow. Changing a single value in the Merit function needs about 10 seconds. I have change everything mentioned here: https://my.zemax.com/en-US/Knowledge-Base/kb-article/?ka=KA-01332 But it does not help.
