Hello,

I am trying to view and generate rays from Radiant Source Models in Zemax. Unfortunately the software is not allowing me to do this.

I was able to successfully download an example Radiant Source File from the Catalog, “OPTO_OD8_01_c.rsmx” from Opto Diode Corp.

One screenshot attached shows what happens when I try to view a source model. The loading circle continues forever and nothing ever opens. The second screenshot attached shows what happens when I try to generate rays from a source model. No matter what I do, the “Generate Rays” button is permanently grayed out.

I am using a Microsoft SurfaceBook 2 on Windows 10.

Would greatly appreciate any help getting these features working.

Sincerely,

Joseph Corry

I should note, in 'Generate Rays,' I get the same result even if I reduce the Number of Rays.

Hello Joseph

Sorry about that. I have tried and it works on my side: viewing the radiant source model and generating the source file.

Are you using a Premium version of the software? Would you like me to send you the SDF file in the meantime?

I think it may be worth opening a case because we may need to get more information from your computer.

Hi Sandrine,

Thanks for your response. Yes, I am using Premium. Thanks for the offer to send the SDF file, but unfortunately I need this feature to generate another SDF file which contains proprietary information.

One of my coworkers was also able to view the same Radiant source model and generate rays from it, so it's definitely something on my computer.

I will open a case.

Thanks,

Joe

Hello,

Disabling OneDrive backup of the Documents folder and reinstalling Zemax with the Data folder in the default local Documents folder with no cloud backup solved the issue.

Thanks,

Joe
