When tolerancing an optical system, i´ve set the criterion to be the RMS spot radius.

It is not clear however if this refers to the RMS spot radius for a field point along the optical axis, on the edge of the field of view or a weighted sum of the different field points. Can someone elucidate me?

Kind regards,
