Hi

I want to plot the surface sag.  The surface I want to plot is a parabola that is tilted by a coordinate break on a line previous to the parabola surface.  How can I plot the surface sag of the parabola (in the surface sag window) that is relative to the previous ‘untilted’ coordinate system?  or the parabola tilt is shown in the surface sag window.

thank you

John

Hi John,

Sequential mode is not set up to do this sort of plot easily, but I can suggest a couple of options. One is to take the surface in question and put its equivalent into a non-sequential mode system. This allows you to use the NSC tool NSC Sag, which allows you to tilt and decenter the object as tool parameters.

Another option is to use the Universal Plot 2D to systematically decenter the on-axis field over some range of interest and then plot the RAGZ operand over this range. I’m attaching a sample case for this. It allows you to stay in sequential mode but has the drawback that it runs into trouble if you go outside the edge of the surface.
