I create a Source Diode file with eliptical ratio of 3 and 0 astigmatism, evergthing including the source sizes are as expected, no problems here, see the raytracing at the left side below. But after I type in a tiny astigmatism of 0.001 (keep everything else untouched), the source size shrinks a lot. What is happening?
The ray travel distance is 0.02 (mm) in Non-Sequential Component Editor box, I marked it as 20 um in the layout above. The astigmatism is 0.001 (mm) in the Non-Sequential Component Editor box.
I got the answer from Zemax users’ manu. The “astigmatism” appears not be able to describe a real laser diode.
