I want to design a collimating optic and I have a model of my extended source in nonsequential mode. When I optimize, the lens gets unreasonably thick. Is there a way to put a limit on this thickness in the nonsequential mode? I am familiar with how to do it in sequential mode, but I don't see the same features in the Optimization Wizard in nonsequential mode. Thanks!

Hi Christy,

There is no entry for this in the wizard, probably because the parameters for non-sequential objects are so inconsistent. But if you look in the help system for the merit function editor you will find a category 'Constraints on Non-sequential Object Data.'  In there you will find many operands, including NPLT for Non-sequential Parameter Less Than. You can add these operands to the merit function generated by the wizard as needed.

Best,

David
