How do I optimize hologram modulation for high diffraction efficiency?

I am modeling Holograms in non-sequential mode.  I want to optimize recording angles and index modulation to optimize the diffraction efficiency and output angle of the reconstruction beam.  I have not found an example for making index modulation a variable.

Did this topic help you find an answer to your question?

Hi Deanna,

You can use the NPRO to set these parameters as variable to optimize.

The operand you could use to obtain the efficiency is NSDP.

I attach you an optimized version modified from the Non-sequential example 3 of the article:

Simulating diffraction efficiency of a volume holographic grating using Kogelnik’s method

https://my.zemax.com/en-US/Knowledge-Base/kb-article/?ka=KA-01893

You can find a macro in the article attachment that can populate all parameters in MCE and pick-up the values between Reflect and Transmit.

Please let me know if you have follow-up questions about this process, and I'll be happy to help!

Best regards,
