Export Zemax or convert externally to .seq (Code V)?

Amy Entin

I would like to share a Zemax file in a way that preserves all the optical data with a colleague that works in LightTools. Since LightTools will only accept an import in the Code V formats, I would like to export my Zemax sequential file to a Code V format. I know Code V has a conversion macro, but neither of us uses Code V, so we don’t have access to it. Is there a conversion script that can be run either using ZPL or an external script (Python maybe?) that would allow me to export the file this way?

Thanks

Maybe try exporting your lens system as STEP files? Your colleague will need to set up the sources by hand, but that’s all.

I’m late to this thread, but have some thoughts.

  1. LightTools doesn’t have the same conversion macro that CodeV does?  I would ask LightTools tech support, I’m sure they’ve run into this issue before.
  2. CodeV will probably give you a temporary license for a couple days. Just explain the situation.
  3. I can convert it for you. DM me if interested.
