1 Tools, Features, and Capabilities
1.1 User-Created Glass Types
Recognize new, user-created glass types in OpticsBuilder.
OpticsBuilder will recognize when the user introduces a new glass type to the existing glass catalog. Logic has been added to save the custom glass type to the glass catalog with the .ZBD file. This new glass type can be restored during the opening of the saved .ZBD file when using different computers.
The new glass type will be reflected on the part in the OpticsBuilder Optics Manager under "edit optical properties". It will also be reflected in Creo part within the Creo model tree under "edit material data". If a change in material is made from standard glass to custom glass, or if a new glass type is introduced, the Update ZBD File tool will catch it and notify you in the pop-up.
1.2 Creo 8 Support
OpticsBuilder is now supported on Creo 8.
OpticsBuilder is now fully supported on PTC Creo Parametric 8. Users can expect the same functionality found on Creo 4, 5, 6, and 7.
Please note that Ansys 2023 R2 will be the final release of Creo 4.
1.3 Fold Mirror Tool - New Functionality

3 Bug Fixes
Ansys OpticsBuilder 2023 R1.02 includes the following bug fixes:
- Import ZBD file – The "Schmidt-Cassegrain End Design.zbd" sample system did not import into OpticsBuilder correctly when the "Equation-driven" option was enabled.
- Export ZBD file – When mechanical component features were suppressed, OpticsBuilder users were unable to export the system and an "Unable to save output file" message appeared.
