Installing Legacy Zemax on a new PC

I have a legacy “black” USB license for Zemax, and am hoping to install whichever legacy version of the software I have a right to (the old computer in our laboratory, on which Zemax was installed, having finally given up the ghost).

Can anyone please assist?

@PBZ

This might help:

https://support.zemax.com/hc/en-us/articles/1500005577342-OpticStudio-Legacy-Version-System-Requirements

Also you will need an installer (an executable file) and the following excerpt from the Ansys Software Release Policy might be relevant:

Availability of Software Releases: we provide access to previous releases of our software that are up to two (2) years old with respect to the current version. After two (2) years it will be removed from the website and will no longer be provided.

I have underlined the part that’s important. As I mentioned previously, some people had some luck asking about installers on Reddit (r/Optics):

Good luck with your installation and take care,

David

Hi David,

Thanks very much for your reply, in particular in pointing me to the reddit community who were able to assist me in locating old installer files for which my license is valid. From there Zemax support were willing to provide me with the applicable license code, so all is up and running well.
