using the latest release 8Ansys Zemax 2025R1) I can not save a graphics file any more. No png/bmp/jpg export works, nor does printing work. All trials result in “No imaging component suitable to complete this operation was found”.

This is the same on both installations I am using.

Only work around so far, is to use OS23.2.1

Hello!

I am not able to duplicate this on the 2025 release. I suspect perhaps one of the Windows components needed failed to install during the OpticStudio installation.

Please install the .NET 8.0 from here and let me know if it resolves it.

https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/thank-you/runtime-desktop-8.0.13-windows-x64-installer

Thanks!

Thanks! IT installed that, but no changes.

Is there any way to find out what exactly is failing? I tried to start from command line (I am not a windows person really) to see if there are any errors, but nothing.

thanks for your help.

Michael

Hello!

Sorry there wont be any logs or anything for this since it’s not a crash. If you are not using an academic license you can open a ticket via the Ansys support site @ https://customer.ansys.com to investigate further.

Just for info to other forum users; a bug report has been files as this seems to affect 2025 r1 and r1 Sp1 (R1.01) on some systems. Hopefully it will be found and fixed soon.

It affects saving to BMP and PNG from the following plots:

  • Huygens MTF Graph
  • Rays & Spot
  • PSF
  • MTF
  • Encircled Energy

As a workaround you can copy the plot to the clipboard and save into an image editing application, or revert to a 2024R2 or earlier release.
