I just noticed that my system viewers say “Zemax OpticsStudio 20.2” in the title block - I’m running version 23.1.02. Not sure how long this has been the case (probably since version 20.2?). Is this a bug or is something corrupted in my installation?

You can change this in the Project Preferences. The Address tab contains the text that is displayed on Layouts, various analysis tool windows, and some other displays. Just update it to the correct version number as well as anything else you might wish to display at any moment.
