When should you use the Tolerancing Cache?
If you find yourself repeating a tolerancing analysis for a second time having only changed a couple of the tolerances, it may be useful to use the Tolerancing Cache. This function allows you to recall the results of a previous sensitivity analysis, only calculating what is new (using “Recompute Changed”), and for that reason can speed up your tolerancing. The “Use Polynomial” option is another way to expedite your analysis by fitting it to a 3rd or 5th order polynomial. Read the knowledge base article What is Polynomial Sensitivity Tolerancing? for more on this option.
The most important thing to keep in mind while using the Tolerancing Cache is that is should not be used if any changes have been made to the lens itself. It is important that it be manually set to “Recompute All” if you are doing a sensitivity analysis after changing the lens file. See the article How to Use the Tolerancing Cache for more info.
