Hi
The surface properties window keep opening up as soon as I click on one of the surface type cell in the lens data editor .
Same thing for the MF Editor.
Is there an option somewhere to avoid this?
Thank you
Renaud

I have a similar problem, and it can be rather annoying. In my case, for some reason, OpticStudio gets into a mode in which trying to use the drop-down arrow for a surface type always causes the surface properties window to appear:
A similar thing happens in the other editors. The drop-down arrows just stop working properly. Closing all instances of OpticStudio and starting over does not help. Only rebooting the computer seems to fix the problem, but over time it can start happening again. I do quite often use OpticStudio remotely via Remote Desktop; not sure if that has anything to do with this issue.
Wonder if other users have had a similar experience?
Hi Jeff.
Yes this is exactly what I am experiencing. But in my case it’s not only when I click on the drop-down arrow but anywhere in the cell.
I am also working via Remote Desktop.
Hi Renaud,
I’ve rebooted my machine so the editor drop-downs are working properly at the moment, but I recall that yes, a single left-mouse-button click anywhere in the first cell of an editor (which contains a drop-down menu) would cause the corresponding properties window to appear. In other words, for some strange reason a single mouse click on the first cell acts like a double-click. I don’t have this problem with any other applications, only OpticStudio.
Regards,
Jeff
I’ve also been experiencing this issue for the past week and am looking for a solution, as this has been very frustrating try to create new objects.
I’m using a Remote Desktop as well.
Hi all,
I’m sorry to hear that you are all running into this issue! This is a known bug that has been difficult to reproduce on our end. Have you only experienced this issue when working with OpticStudio over a remote desktop connection? Or have you run into this behavior when working with OpticStudio on your native machine? If this behavior can be narrowed down to just occurring on a remote desktop, that helps narrow the scope of where the bug can occur.
If any of you have a file where this issue continuously appears and are willing to post it to the Community, I can take a look at the file! I have access to a remote desktop with OpticStudio where I can open the file.
For now, as Jeff mentioned, rebooting the computer does help to temporarily fix the issue. To restart a remote desktop, I found this useful article on restarting the desktop via the command line: How do I shut down or restart my Windows computer via command prompt? | Information Technology Services (uiowa.edu).
Another option is to toggle the Lens Data Editor to Express View. According to other users we have worked with, this behavior doesn’t seem to appear in Express View. You can toggle the Lens Data Editor to Express View with this button:
I believe if you toggle back to Normal View, the drop-down issue will still appear until the computer is restarted. But if a user is willing to work in Express View, this is another way to temporarily get around the drop-down menu issue.
Hello Community,
I have the same issue. Is there still no solution found to this bug (except going to express view, which actually works)?
Best regards,
Gregor
