Hi Zemax Community,

I am reading the book, introduction to lens design with practical zemax examples.

And in the chapter 16.5,a Longitudinal Aberration Coefficients tables show several items.
including LSPH, LAST,LFCP,LFCS,LFCT and LAXC

but in my data,
there are LSPH,LSCO,LTCO,LAST,LPFC.LSFC,LTFC and LDIS

I have looked up in the help manual but did not get instructions on the ,say LAXC

1)Does the Zemax version matter this issue?
2) Could you tell me how each coefficient corresponds to each other?

my zemax version: Ansys Zemax OpticStudio 2023 R1.03
the book's version: Zemax SE version 6.0-7.2

Thank you

Hi Yang!

Version 6.0-7.2 is a quite old version of Zemax and unfortunately I don’t have access to its manual.

At the most recent version of OS, longitudinal aberration coefficients are computed for longitudinal spherical aberration (LSPH), longitudinal sagittal coma (LSCO), longitudinal tangential coma (LTCO), longitudinal astigmatism (LAST), longitudinal Petzval field curvature (LPFC), longitudinal sagittal field curvature (LSFC), longitudinal tangential field curvature (LTFC), longitudinal distortion (LDIS), longitudinal axial color (LAXC) and longitudinal lateral color (LLAC). So the only acronyms with a different naming convention would be LFCP, LFCS, LFCT and my guess it that these have been substituted by the new ones LPFC, LSFC and LTFC.
