Hello there

I have a question regarding the “Part designer” functionality. I  would like to know if it is possible to export a lens design from sequential mode into the Part designer. It seems to me that is only possible with the Premium Edition but I have not found examples of this is done.

Any help will be welcome,

Kind regards.

Diego

Hi Diego,

From what I remember, it is not possible to import a lens directly into the Part Designer, even with the Premium Edition. What the Premium Edition allows you to do is expose a dimension of your designed part for optimization.

If you want to export a lens, it would have to be a CAD I’m affraid.

What are you looking to achieve?

Take care,

David

Hello David,

Thank you for the reply.

I was trying to design an extruded plastic lens  so I needed to add some features to the profile of the lens.

I thought that by putting the lens in the Part Designer I could add the extra features.

Kind regards.

Diego

Hi Diego,

Why don’t you simply add another surface to your lens? What kind of features are you looking for? Have a look at the Grid Sag surface, it might give you some ideas.

Take care,
