Laser gain medium and cavity dynamics

Can Zemax POP model laser cavity dynamics such as when a steady state convergence is achieved? Can POP using DLL, or ZPL model laser gain material and impacts onto propagated beam?

Any insight is appreciated.

You can certainly model gain. Create a new material in the Materials Catalog:

 

and set its transmission >1 as a function of wavelength.

POP works in sequential mode, so you’ll need to define a series of surfaces for each pass. Pickups and copy/paste are your friends!

Thanks Mark.Nicholson! I had no idea you could set transmission greater than 1 in Zemax. That sounds like a perfect solution.
