I still have one problem, it’s the number of digits used for the SAG and edge thickness on the drawings.
There is 5 to 6 digits on my drawing.
In the L (R) surf TAB of the drawing, you can uncheck the Automatic box and change the surface sag but it seems to have no effect on the drawing…
Do I miss something?

Hey Renaud, I don’t know the answer to the question you ask, but I’m scared if you’re using numbers to six digits. If your lens units are mm, you are specifying thicknesses to the nearest nanometer!
You should always round numbers up a bit before you do tolerancing. Instead of 2.41233 mm, try 2.41 or better 2.4. There’s a ‘Design Lockdown’ tool that can do all this tidying up for you. You should rarely ever need more than X.XXX signifivant figures, X.XX is probably as tight as you’d ever need. Remember you then tolerance at the next lower digit.

Hi Mark.
I completely agree with you and it’s why I’m looking for a way to reduce the number of digits. My concern is on the sag values that are indicated on drawing and automatically calculated by Zemax. They are printed with min 6 digits and I can’t find a way to decrease it.

As far as I can tell, the ISO drawing tool in the 2025 R2 release only had a bare minimum update -- namely fixing the errors associated with surface sag and edge thickness. All of the other suggestions have essentially been neglected. OpticStudio is a nice tool for designing custom lenses, but unfortunately very little effort has been expended in providing a more capable ISO drawing tool to have the lenses fabricated.
Hi Jeff.
I agree. Concerning this specific issue, I’ve created a case and it has been identified as a bug. It should be resolved in a future release I hope.
Hi @Renaud.Ligot,
Hope you have better luck than I did. I opened up a support ticket back in February of this year, pointing out the dimension errors (now fixed) along with some suggestions that would definitively improve the ISO drawing tool. After some exchange back and forth, the ticket sat open for a while with no real update on what would or would not be changed. Then one day the ticket was closed, with a short note saying “Your input has been documented and shared with our development team. Thanks for your understanding.”
One of my primary concerns is that the layouts have become rather cluttered, so the dimensions can now become hard to read. This depends on the shape and complexity of the lens, some shapes are much worse than others. In the latest version of the drawing tool, the user has no control over which dimensions are applied. There is really no way for the user to make changes so the drawing becomes more readable.
Here are some examples of my suggestions from the aforementioned support ticket:
Regarding the last image above, I believe the number of fringes displayed in the print are now correct. The RMSi units were added in 2024 R2, but now in 2025 R2 they are missing again.
Maybe if more users chime in, some of these additional changes will be made…
