I tried to do Boolean subtraction with Freeform Z object and cylinder volume in order to drill a cylindrical hole through the Freeform Z lens. But Zemax won’t make that boolean subtraction as I wanted.
Is this bug or did I miss something here?

@jsung
Seems to work for me.
Do you have a file you could share with us?
Take care,
David
Your example is just simple straight tapered Freeform Z. But my case has optimized profile for TIR collimation though not good yet.
Here is my screen shot. Unfortunately I’m unable to attach the zmx file here. This forum won’t let me upload it.
If you don’t specify how an object is defined, I will always use the default object to test. The fastest way to get an answer is if you provide a way to reproduce the problem.
You may want to read the Community Posting Guidelines here:
https://community.zemax.com/site/terms
In there, it is also explained:
This platform does not accept ZAR, ZMX, or other Zemax-specific files. When you want to provide an attachment, attach a ZIP file instead. Be sure you do not post any confidential files.
Once you attach a file, the Community can have a look at the problem in more detail.
Take care,
David
OK, I didn’t know this forum site doesn’t accept ZMX file in the attachment. I will zip it and upload here soon.
Here is the zip file of my example as you requested.
Try to ZIP a ZAR file next time (File..Create Archive). Because one catalog: ETC is missing.
Without the catalog, it seems to be ok on my end with R1.02.
What version of OpticStudio are you running?
Take care,
David
This example doesn’t use any material from ETC catalog, so not sure why that matters.
I’m on the latest 2024 R2.02
Since we don’t know what’s happening, I’m just pointing it out for reference. But keep in mind that ZAR is the preferred format to share a lens file.
Could you try to roll back to R1.02 and try again? I don’t have access to R2.02 to test.
Take care,
David
Here is zip containing ZAR file for both example for you.
I cannot roll back to R1.02 at my work.
