I’ve suddenly gotten an issue exporting a design to a CAD file.  When I import the file (I’ve tried STP and IGS) into SolidWorks the only places that the rays show up are when they are transmitting through the lenses.  For example this NS system in ZOS:

Shows up in Solidworks as:

This only seems to have started after the latest update.

Any ideas?

Hi @DGoodwin,

Thanks for posting here in the Forum!

Could you try to do the same export with the old geometric modeling Kernel? You can switch back to the old one within the Project Preferences → General → Untick “Use Parasolid Libraries” (See image below)

This way we can see if the modeling kernel is the root of the faulty export.

Thanks and speak to you soon,

That did it!

Thank you! I had the same issue.  It seemed to be for any thickness that was greater than 24.6 (independent of units).  This fixed the issue.

There’s another reason rays may not show up in SolidWorks. For some CAD formats SW has various options when importing the file that affect whether rays are shown. One is called “import sketches” and one is “free point entities” or something like that.
