Hello Everyone,

I have a system with a series of lens to optimize.

The above picture shows the last portion of the lens system. (The last lens is an even aspherical surface)

Above picture shows my abberations. I want to improve my system by reducing distortion aberration.

Can you make comment on this case?

What are your suggestions to reduce distortion aberration?

Best wishes.

Hi,

In the Optimization Wizard, choose the Max Distortion control and enter whatever value you need for the maximum distortion.

This will enter a DIMX operand in the merit function.

Note however that all the image quality default merit functions (RMS wavefront, RMS Spot, contrast, RMS Angular) are independent of distortion. Distortion only affects the location of the PSF, and does not affect the shape of the PSF. Distortion can also be calibrated out in post-processing of the image. That's why the Seidel plot has an option to ignore distortion. Looking at your layout drawing, and the scale of the Seidel plot, indicates to me that the image quality itself has not been adequately optimized yet. Og course, it depends on the spec you are trying to achieve,

HTH,
