Does anyone have any examples on designing an acoustic lens using zemax?

Hi Robert

I did a quick search on our side and I didn't find any examples. I think the main question we are asked is if OpticStudio can model acoustic lens and I think this forum answers this question: Can OpticStudio be used to model any portion of the electromagnetic spectrum?

I hope other users will be able to help.

I think you can, but it might be easier to just build the model in Matlab or Python TBH.

Rays are the normals to the wavefront, so that will work fine. Refractive index is effectively the speed of the light (now sound) in the medium. I guess you'd take the speed of sound at Standard Temperature and Pressure as the reference, there's no vacuum speed of sound :-)

But, I think OpticStudio has been designed for lens designers and optical physicists, and it will take more work for you to implement the metaphors than it will to just model it directly. Is there a specific use case you're thinking of?
