Hi all,

Is there a simple way to define a beam splitter coating as function of angle? that is, something like that:

angle R T
10 20 80
20 30 70
30 40 60
40 50 50
50 60 40
60 70 30

thanks,

Nadav

Hi Nadav,

Thanks for your question here on the forums!

The TABLE coating format can be used for this purpose, please see below the syntax:

TABLE
ANGL
WAVE Rs Rp Ts Tp Ars Arp Ats Atp
WAVE Rs Rp Ts Tp Ars Arp Ats Atp
WAVE Rs Rp Ts Tp Ars Arp Ats Atp
...
ANGL
WAVE Rs Rp Ts Tp Ars Arp Ats Atp
WAVE Rs Rp Ts Tp Ars Arp Ats Atp
WAVE Rs Rp Ts Tp Ars Arp Ats Atp
...

The data is specified at multiple angles of incidence, and besides at each angle of incidence you can specify the polarization dependent reflection and transmission for several different wavelengths.

In the table above,

Rs = Reflection coefficient for S polarization

Rp = Reflection coefficient for P polarization

Ts = Transmission coefficient for S polarization

Tp = Transmission coefficient for P polarization

and the remaining parameters are the phase rotation angles, which are optional.

You may find more details about the definition in the following knowledgebase article, where the application example is a beam splitter as in your case:

I hope this helps, but if you have any further questions, please let us know and we will be happy to help!

Hi Csilla,

Thanks for the help.

I have another question regrading NSC ray tracing.

Can I send you the files in private message? Also, becasue the design is based on our company proprietary and confidential know-how, can you keep this correspondence confidential? Can you please send a signed NDA form?

Thanks in advance,

Nadav

Thanks for getting back to us.

Of course you can open a private case with us, please follow this link: Open a New Case · MyZemax

or click on the Open a Case button at the bottom of you MyZemax ... Get Support page:

Regarding the NDA, I will write you and your account manager an email about it, so that we can sort it.
