Hi everyone,

is it possible to model a divergence aperture?

For example i want to set a entrance pupil diameter divergence of 1,6 mRad.

Thanks a lot in advance

Hi @marco.ievoli,

Sorry about the delayed response. One method to achieve a diverging aperture is by setting the Object Space NA. I’ve put together a simple example below where I set the NA based on 1.6 mRad (assuming the small angle approximation). Then using the equation for NA (from Numerical aperture - Wikipedia) for a given fixed aperture, you can calculate the necessary object distance to make sure that you fill the aperture with rays diverging at 1.6 mRad.

Ethan
