Hi,

I was wondering how/if I can design an Anamorphic Asphere (different Aspheric in X and Y similar to Code V) in Zemax?

I appreciate your help.

Best,
Hooman

Hi Hooman!

Have you tried using the Biconic Zernike surface type? It's like the Biconic, but with the addition of being able to define some asphere terms along X and Y (as well as defining some Zernike polynomial terms). The sag equation for the Biconic Zernike is as follows:

This can allow you to create some anamorphic surfaces which differ only in their asphere coefficients along X and Y, like below:

For your reference, I've also attached this sample file. Please let us know how this suits you!

Hi Angel,

Thank you for your help.  This Biconic Zernike surface is what I was looking for.

Hi,

In addition to the aspheric terms, how can different X radius and Y radius be defined?

Best,

Hi Feli

The Biconic Zernike surface contains a radius of curvature for X and a radius of curvature for Y.
