Has anyone experienced this? The 3D layout gets stuck and unusable. Forcing user to open up new 3D layout window.

This happens pretty often and is very annoying. I have found 2 workarounds that let you keep any window settings.
Clone the window, then close the first.
Switch to classic tab, then switch back.
+3YES! Many times. There is a bug in Layout 3D that makes it freeze. The only possible thing to do is kill it and do another one. But because that's the workaround, we'll probably never see that bug fixed.
