Hi,

I am learning the POP. For the fast lens example in the link below, after we use the merit function editor to calculate the sampling (3.8e+4) required to adequately sample the phase change, what is the next step? the highest sampling in the setting we can reach is 1.6e+4, and I still cannot get a smooth phase on surface 3. please help.

Using Physical Optics Propagation (POP), Part 3: Inspecting the beam phases – Knowledgebase (zemax.com)

Thanks,

Ying

Hi @Ying,

Apologies about the delayed response to your question, but I wanted to make a suggestion in case it is still relevant, or for the benefit of others. Yes, you are correct that the POP Analysis is limited to a maximum sampling of 16,384. If you are finding this insufficient, you could consider the ZOS-API. It will allow a maximum of 1,073,741,824 by 1,073,741,824 pixels (available RAM permitting). For more information, please see ‘RunHighSamplingPOP’ from the I_Analyses interface in the ZOS-API Syntax Help.

Best,
Ethan
